Evan’s Timeline

My timeline…
A life hustle… NOT a side hustle

EARLY

Evan is born in the heart of Vermont to parents from the airline industry – a pilot and a cabin crew member, who heralded the glory days of Pan-Am. Evan’s father’s need for speed progressed from F8 Crusaders to 747s to ski racing… coincidentally, Vermont had to be the place to raise a family. Naturally, the spirit of calm, organized candor became a staple in the Foley house.

1999

Evan obtains his first laptop and begins to collect mp3s and even songs recorded off the radio using the aux plug. The emerging high-speed internet technology immerses Evan in an endless array of music he tries to share with his peers in high school. Evan correctly foresees the success of some European tracks including Sandstorm, Kernkraft 400, Better off Alone, etc.
Small parties and family gathers ensued.

2000

Evan buys his first mixer and speaker system from RadioShack with his allowance, alone with two CDJ-style players from Gemini. In order to spin the music in a more cunning and mixable way, Evan makes a habit of burning tracks to CD for performance. You would regularly find Evan perusing the singles section of your local FYE. A fan of James Bond, Evan collects and plays music under the pseudonym DJ00. EQUIPMENT SNAPSHOT

2002

Evan graduates high school and brings his tenacity to entertain to SUNY Plattsburgh where he begins his major in audio/radio communication while forging a relationship with the student association and dorm council. With a student body heavily constituted by NYC folk and internationals, parties become a regular occurrence where Evan hones his chops, musically and entrepreneurially. This places Evan in range of the radio stations in Montreal. Instead of going out, Evan found himself listening to the live club simulcasts, finding euphoria in the liveliness in what music can be… not something that fades out, but something that carries the energy forward.

2004

Evan obtains a CDN-88 CD player (shown) and begins to hone the skill of beatmatching off his cds. During the second-coming of hip-hop, Evan plays acts like Lil Jon, Ludacris, Nelly and Destiny’s Child for diverse audiences ranging from urban to rural. Beginning to draw out contracts, Evan coins a business name, a play on his last name in the humorous “cornholio” fashion – El Folio Entertainment.

Evan fills in for a no-show wedding DJ at the Naked Turtle in Plattsburgh – and history is made.

2005

Evan begins his tenure at the Wobbly Barn in Killington, which soon led to relationships with other clubs including the Outback and Tabu. Evan’s mission was simple – keep people here, buying drinks while the band took their break. Keeping people on the dance floor becomes a great propensity of Evan’s – a skill that he would carry later to weddings.

Over the summer, Evan interns for WJJR in Rutland VT, the highest-rated AC radio station in the market.

In the fall, Evan becomes a DJ and managing team member of SUNY Plattsburgh’s radio station, WARP.

2006

Evan graduates with his BA in Audio/Radio digital media

Evan meets Diana Hill – a photography student, eager for adventure and fun. Near the end of the year, Diana and Evan do their first wedding together. Evan begins to pursue a masters degree at Plattsburgh.

2008

Evan graduates with his Masters in Administration and leadership. Evan and Diana are married, and welcome their son, Alex.

2010

Evan and Diana welcome their daughter, Emma. El Folio Entertainment wins what is now the “Couples Choice” award from WeddingWire… an award they’ve retained annually to this day.

2013

Evan modernizes, trading his CDs in for a controller with his laptop, bringing waveforms to the equation making music easier to mix on-the-fly. Uplights are added to the experience.

2016

El Folio Entertainment adds Photo Booth Express to the repertoire, adding another dimension of fun to the experience.

2021

Evan performs in Isla Mujeres.
By now, Diana and Evan have slated their reputation in the wedding circuit and opt for an identity reflecting their accolades, not necessarily dishing up ONLY entertainment or ONLY photography. El Folio Entertainment rebrands as Foley Weddings, ending the ambiguity of our company mission.

2023

Evan ends his relationship with alcohol for good

TODAY

Now carrying the coveted Best of Weddings award by The Knot, Diana and Evan Foley remain in high demand, working about 60 weddings for year, often times spitballing one event into others – weddings of wedding party and guests. This has taken Foley Weddings to nine states, and three countries. The Foleys are elated to have a foot in the door of the Vermont wedding industry, hoping one day they can pass it to their kids.
